Now in its 10th year, the Harbor Benchmarking Library & Information Services Survey (BLISS) provides insights and benchmarking, including trends data, in several key areas to support the decision-making process of law firm information services leaders.
Each year a new "hot topic" is curated based on industry trends to ensure that the survey remains relevant and reports on the most important challenges facing our professional community.
What to expect
Survey results have been delivered to participants via an interactive dashboard providing analysis, recommendations and insights from our team of information services experts. Survey participants gain insights into:
- Collection budget benchmarking
- Trends in staff budgets, size, and roles, including tracking new roles that have been created recently (data visualization and analytics, innovation, AI, etc.)
- Resource purchasing and retention trends by type and practice

Participation and access to survey results are free, however, only participating firms have access to survey results. To receive your customized link to participate, please complete the form on this page. More information will be provided to registrants prior to survey launch in 2026.
Registration is open to all U.S.-based law firms, regardless of size. One response per firm. Firm registrant should have ready access to departmental data, including staffing, budget, and resource details. All data is kept strictly confidential.
